Steve McKnight

Steve finished his Masters in Jazz Performance from McGill University in Montreal in 2004. While living in Montreal, he was a sought-after performer and clinician across Canada, from Vancouver to Quebec City. Since finishing his degree, he moved back to Pittsburgh to pick up his work as Azucar's musical director. Along with composing all of the original tunes in the AZUCAR book (with lyricist Indira Corales) he is a co-owner of Resounding Brass-Pittsburgh's premier cerimonial brass music performance company, and leader of the Raw Sugar Brass Band-Pittsburgh's own New Orleans Funk Brass Band. Having graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2000 with a B.S. in Music Eduacation and a B.A. in Music Performance, where he studied from Steve Hawk, Terry Steele, and Frank Eisenrich, Steve is quickly turning into one of the area's most in demand players and teachers. In Steve's extensive freelance performing over just the last handfull of years, he has played with many of the top musical ensembles in the Pittsburgh area and across the nation, including: Father Time, the RH Factor, the Roger Humphries Big Band, Joe Piscipo, Bernedette Peters, Frank Sinatra Jr., Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and most recently has returned to playing with his friends in No Bad Juju.
